The ambitious new inoculation target will form part of a strategy to getting the country back to some kind of normality. Although we are still unsure how effective the vaccine will be in the long run and how mutant variants can be managed, we should not underestimate the achievement and take a moment to celebrate. By April/May we could see a society opening up once more, bars and restaurants buzzing, city centres full of office workers again, public transport throbbing at rush hour…
Once this is all over, what lesson will we have learned? Hopefully, the importance of infection control in preventing the spread of disease.
Infections and diseases can be caused by bacteria, fungi, algae, and viruses. Impossible to see (and as evidenced by COVID, not always causing identifiable symptoms) the risk of disease transmission will increase as society opens up and office workers return. COVID-19 will most likely still be in circulation to some extent, together with the illnesses we are more accustomed to – flu, colds, and stomach upsets. The only way of reducing their spread is effective infection control.
We are excited to have partnered with Restoreo and Nano-Care to supply Liquid Guard – helping make infection control easier in all types of workspace. It is a permanent multi-surface coating which can be applied to most surfaces and provides an effective way of reducing the spread of bacteria and viruses in any community setting – whether that is an office, food preparation area, entertainment venue or even on public transport.
Gentle on the environment and gentle on humans, it works on a microscopic level. Positively charged atoms of nitrogen in the coating attract negatively charged microbe cell membranes. These charged particles pull them towards microscopic quartz blades, puncturing, and ultimately killing, the microbes.
Not only does it kill the microbes, but it preserves the surface it treats, repelling liquids, dirt, and micro-scratches. And it is not just for hard surfaces – Liquid Guard can also be used on fabric. Unlike chemical cleaners, a single treatment will typically last up to a year on frequently touched surfaces and can even last a lifetime on others.Â
It is a remarkable product.
